Nolita — North of Little Italy, roughly bounded by Houston, Canal, Bowery, and Lafayette — has remained one of the few Manhattan neighborhoods where independent boutiques, family-run restaurants, and unexpected green spaces coexist without being flattened by chains. It is also home to one of New York's most distinctive cannabis dispensaries: Alta, at 52 Kenmare St A, New York, NY 10012, where Vanessa Yee-Chan has transformed her family's 1976 building into the city's most design-forward wellness cannabis experience.
Getting Here
The easiest subway route is the 6 train to Spring Street — you emerge at the northwest corner of Nolita, two minutes from the top of Mulberry Street. Alternatively, the J, Z, B, or D trains to Bowery or Grand Street bring you in from the east — walk west on Kenmare and you're at 52 Kenmare St A in five minutes.

The Perfect Nolita Day
Morning: Coffee at the cafés along Elizabeth Street. The Butcher's Daughter is worth the wait. Elizabeth Street Garden — a free, one-acre sculpture garden open 8am–8pm — is a must before the crowds arrive.
Afternoon: The boutiques on Mulberry and Mott Streets between Houston and Kenmare are the neighborhood's soul. Creatures of Comfort on Mott, the stretch of Elizabeth between Spring and Prince, and Nolita Pizza for a slice on the way.
Late afternoon: Alta Dispensary at 52 Kenmare St A is the natural last stop before dinner. Founded by Vanessa Yee-Chan in her family's building — her grandparents purchased it in 1976 after fleeing Mozambique — it is the most personal dispensary in New York. Open Mon–Wed until 9pm, Thu–Sat until 11pm. Call (646) 707-0190 for product guidance. Order for pickup at altadispensary.nyc.
Evening: Dinner at Peasant on Elizabeth or Rubirosa on Mulberry. Or head to the New Museum at 235 Bowery — which reopened in March 2026 with 60,000 square feet of new gallery space — for a late opening.
